The inaugural Soda City Poetry Festival hosted workshops and panels that promoted the reading, writing and discussion of poetry. The festival was founded by the Poet Laureate of the City of Columbia, Jennifer Bartell Boykin, and funded by the Poet Laureate Fellowship granted by the Academy of American Poets and the Mellon Foundation.
