The South Carolina men’s golf team finished second to Alabama at the 2013 SEC Championship held this weekend in St. Simons Island, Ga. The team was two strokes away from winning the program’s first SEC title, and a school record was set for the lowest 54-hole SEC Championship score.

Ranked 17th in the nation, the South Carolina men’s tennis team’s expectations entering last weekend’s SEC tournament were as high as they have ever been, according to coach Josh Goffi.

According to coach Chad Holbrook, senior first baseman LB Dantzler’s 410-foot home run in the fourth inning of Sunday’s game was symbolic of Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½â€™s weekend series.


	Senior closer Tyler Webb has missed time with a left elbow injury, but an MRI revealed no structural damage. Coach Chad Holbrook said he will not rush Webb back but hopes he can pitch against Kentucky this weekend.

No. 21 South Carolina (28-10, 8-7 SEC) will start the second half of its SEC Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½ this weekend when it takes on No. 25 Kentucky (24-12, 7-8 SEC).

Softball drops home games against Bulldogs

Softball coach Beverly Smith passed along simple advice to pitcher Julie Sarratt. The result was one of Sarratt’s best outings of the Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½ against Georgia. But it wasn’t enough for South Carolina, as the Gamecocks lost their last two games of the series. Heading into Sunday’s finale, the series was tied at 1-1. South Carolina won the opener 6-2 but dropped Saturday’s contest 7-6. Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½ has lost all five of its SEC series this Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½.
