The University of South Carolina board of trustees met on Friday to approve a six-year extension to head men's basketball coach Lamont Paris' contract.
The restructured deal, which includes a pay raise, will keep Paris on the Gamecocks' staff until the 2029-30 Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½.
Paris will also earn an increased salary with his new contract, which will pay him $26.25 million total over the course of the deal. Paris is set to make $3.75 million in the first year of the deal, and his salary will increase $250,000 each Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½ until he earns $5 million in 2030.
His base salary under his previous contract started at $2.2 million during his first Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½ and increased by $100,000 each year until 2027, when he would earn $2.6 million.
Paris' contract extension and pay raise come after the second-year coach helped lead South Carolina to 25 regular Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½ wins — the most in program history. The Gamecocks were also ranked in the Associated Press poll for the first time since 2017 this Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½.
Paris was recently named SEC Coach of the Year by both the and the after turning around a South Carolina team that finished the 2022-23 Â鶹Сòòò½´«Ã½ with a 11-21 record (including 4-14 against conference opponents).
